Salyaku, [Inter] Media Artist & Designer. Ecuadorian born, based in New York City. He has developed his visual work through Design and Art as a form of expression through new media and formats.
During his career, his work has evolved thanks to creative processes, emotion, intuition and abstract thinking that flow through sensory perception creating an expressive abstract identity based on movement.
The last ten years have been key in his creative transformation, resulting in unique, hybrid and living projects sensitively interpreting “the presence” and rationalizing new creative possibilities between Design-Art-Technology. He has collaborated with other artists, designers and brands, as well as in the creation of his own work and commissions addressed to art curators and private collectors.
Salyaku has been invited to be a visiting professor in different cities in Asia, Europe and Latinamerica, such as Ecole Intuit.Lab Mumbai, India. He currently develops his artistic practice using artificial intelligence, machine learning, AR/VR and generative art. He has a BFA (Honors) in Graphic Design from the School of Visual Arts, NYC.
He has collaborated as an Art Director for design studios in New York, San Francisco and Quito. In his own creative studio Velesi, worked for technology companies, cultural and educational organizations. He simultaneously founded Grafitat, a non-profit organization to promote Latin American artists and designers. His Design work has been exhibited around the world.
His artist name Salyaku is a reference to his mestizo roots + fascination with water.
